T6GC, T6ZC and T67GB: PTO Vane Pumps in Nine Code Positions

A direct-mounted PTO pump differs from a foot-mounted pump in two respects that affect selection and installation: the shaft carries the drive load without a bracket, and a drain must be provided between the two shaft seals. The three single pumps in this family — T6GC, T6ZC and T67GB — are designed for that mounting. Their model code runs to nine positions, one of which has a single value.

The nine positions are described below in order, together with the two features that distinguish this family from a standard single pump: the shaft and the drain hole between the two shaft seals. The eight strings currently held in stock are decoded at the end.

Three models, one mounting job

The family has three single pumps. Two of them carry a C-size cartridge, one carries a B-size cartridge, and all three are meant to be flanged directly onto the PTO rather than driven through a coupling on a foot bracket.

Model Cartridge Mounting flange Shaft spline Weight
T67GB B size 4 bolts DIN 5462 B8-32-36 18.0 kg
T6GC C size 4 bolts DIN 5462 B8-32-36 18.0 kg
T6ZC C size 3 bolts DIN 5463 B6-21-25 14.1 kg

The letters after the model number state the mounting: G is the direct PTO version, ZC the Cardan version, driven through a propeller shaft. That letter determines the mounting flange, the shaft spline, the available seal classes and the weight, so the two C-size models are not interchangeable.

Typical installations are tipping trucks, refuse trucks and cranes, where the pump is engaged only while the body or the arm is moving and the PTO is often the only available drive point.

The nine positions at a glance

The sample model numbers for this family read T67GB - B15 - 6 R 00 - A 1 - 00 and T6GC - B22 - 6 R 00 - A 1 - 00. Position by position:

Position Meaning Value in the example
1 Series T67GB, T6GC or T6ZC
2 Cartridge / displacement code B15 or B22
3 Shaft 6
4 Rotation, viewed on the shaft end R
5 Porting combination 00
6 Design letter A
7 Seal class 1
8 Port form 00
9 Modification code blank

Positions 6 and 9 are the two the catalogue leaves open: it prints the headings but no value table. On every pump we have seen, position 6 reads A and position 9 is left empty — but confirm both against the nameplate you are replacing rather than assuming.

Position 1: the model, and what G or ZC decides

Position 1 fixes three things at once: the cartridge size, the mounting flange and the shaft spline.

Position 1 Cartridge Mounting flange Shaft spline
T67GB B size 4 bolts DIN 5462 B8-32-36
T6GC C size 4 bolts DIN 5462 B8-32-36
T6ZC C size 3 bolts DIN 5463 B6-21-25

If you only remember one line from this article, make it this one: T6GC and T6ZC share a cartridge but not a flange and not a spline. A pump ordered as the wrong one will not bolt up, and it will not slip onto the PTO either.

Position 2: the displacement code

This position is easily misread: the values printed against the codes are deliveries in litres per minute at 0 bar and 1500 r/min, not millilitres per revolution. Volumetric displacement is listed in the adjacent performance table.

T67GB, ten codes:

Code B02 B03 B04 B05 B06 B07 B08 B10 B12 B15
l/min at 1500 r/min 8.7 14.7 19.2 23.9 29.7 33.7 37.4 47.7 61.5 75.0
ml/rev 5.8 9.8 12.8 15.9 19.8 22.5 24.9 31.8 41.0 50.0

T6GC and T6ZC, thirteen codes:

Code B03 B05 B06 B08 B10 B12 B14 B17 B20 B22 B25 B28 B31
l/min at 1500 r/min 16.2 25.8 31.9 39.6 51.1 55.6 69.0 87.4 95.7 105.4 118.9 133.2 150.0
ml/rev 10.8 17.2 21.3 26.4 34.1 37.1 46.0 58.3 63.8 70.3 79.3 88.8 100.0

Two points follow. First, the same code does not mean the same displacement across the two cartridge sizes: B15 is 50.0 ml/rev on the B cartridge and does not exist on the C cartridge. Second, quotations should be compared on the ml/rev column, not on the code alone.

Position 3: the shaft — there is only one code

This family offers no keyed shaft. Position 3 is always 6, a splined shaft, and the spline depends on the model:

Code Meaning T67GB T6GC T6ZC
6 Splined shaft DIN 5462 B8-32-36 DIN 5462 B8-32-36 DIN 5463 B6-21-25

One code covers two spline standards. A PTO bored for a T6GC will not accept a T6ZC, and the two look alike, so measuring before ordering is advisable. On a direct-mounted pump the shaft replaces the bracket of a foot-mounted installation and carries the corresponding load: the catalogue rates radial load capability on the T6GC shaft at up to 7500 N, with a bearing life of 3000 hours at 70% of the time under 500 N and 30% at maximum load.

Position 4: rotation, seen from the shaft end

R is clockwise and L is counter-clockwise, both read looking at the shaft end. The letter is fixed at assembly and must match the rotation of the PTO; a mismatch cannot be corrected by changing the hose routing. Read the rotation from the take-off, not from the engine.

Position 5: the four porting combinations

The catalogue prints four arrangements for this position, with 00 as the standard one. The code sets the position of the suction and pressure ports relative to each other and to the mounting flange, and so determines the routing of both lines in a direct-mounted installation.

Code Arrangement
00 Standard porting combination
01 Alternative arrangement
02 Alternative arrangement
03 Alternative arrangement

All eight pumps in stock use 00. Where the machine allows only one arrangement, quote it from the old nameplate rather than defaulting to 00.

Positions 6 to 8: design letter, seal class and port form

These three positions carry the details most often omitted from an enquiry.

Position Meaning Values
6 Design letter Printed as a heading only; the example reads A
7 Seal class 1 = Buna-N (T6GC and T6ZC); 5 = Viton (T6ZC only)
8 Port form 00 = BSPP threads; 01 = SAE threads (UNC); M0 = BSPP threads, metric; M1 = SAE threads, metric

Position 8 requires item-by-item checking. The suction port is 1.1/2 in across the family and the pressure port is 1 in; the four codes state whether those ports are threaded BSPP or SAE and whether the threads are inch or metric. The catalogue note against these codes defines their range of application, and the table should not be applied to other models unchecked.

This position determines whether existing fittings can be reused. Three values appear in our stock: A100, A101 and A1M0, none of them interchangeable.

The drain hole between the two shaft seals

Direct-mounted PTO pumps carry two shaft seals, one facing the pump and one facing the take-off, and the drawing marks the space between them with a line worth reading twice: drain hole between the two shaft seals.

The hole is what allows the pump to be flanged directly onto a PTO: oil passing either seal leaves through the drain instead of crossing between the PTO housing and the hydraulic system. Where the PTO shares its oil with a gearbox and the hydraulic tank holds a different fluid, that separation is the design requirement.

Installation requirements: keep the drain open or piped to a return and never plug it; where the installation allows, keep it above the oil level so the space between the seals does not fill and pressurise.

Speed, pressure and weight

The three models do not share the same envelope. The B-size pump turns faster at the top end; the C-size pumps reach a higher displacement at the bottom end of the speed range.

Model Displacement Minimum speed Maximum speed Maximum pressure, intermittent / continuous Weight
T67GB 5.8–50.0 ml/rev, 10 codes 600 r/min 3600 r/min; 1800 r/min on HF-3, HF-4 and HF-5; 3000 r/min on B12 and B15 300 / 275 bar on HF-0 and HF-2; 240 / 210 bar on HF-1, HF-4 and HF-5; 175 / 140 bar on HF-3; 280 / 240 bar on B12 and B15 18.0 kg
T6GC 10.8–100.0 ml/rev, 13 codes 400 r/min 2800 r/min; 1800 r/min on the fluids above; 2500 r/min on B25 to B31 275 / 240 bar on HF-0 and HF-2; 210 / 175 bar on HF-1, HF-4 and HF-5; 175 / 140 bar on HF-3; 210 / 160 bar and 160 bar on B28 and B31 18.0 kg
T6ZC 10.8–100.0 ml/rev, 13 codes 400 r/min 2800 r/min; 1800 r/min on the fluids above; 2500 r/min on B25 to B31 275 / 240 bar on HF-0 and HF-2; 210 / 175 bar on HF-1, HF-4 and HF-5; 175 / 140 bar on HF-3; 210 / 160 bar and 160 bar on B28 and B31 14.1 kg

Minimum speed is the limiting figure on a PTO installation: a tipping pump often runs at the engine idle speed, and 400 r/min is already below the limit of many single pumps. Inlet conditions matter as much: the catalogue gives minimum absolute inlet pressures between 0.80 bar and 1.05 bar depending on model and code, multiplies them by 1.25 for HF-3 and HF-4, by 1.35 for HF-5 and by 1.10 for ester or rapeseed based fluids, and caps the difference between the inlet flange and atmosphere at 0.2 bar to avoid cavitation.

Mounting flange, ports and mounting torque

Item T67GB and T6GC T6ZC
Mounting flange 4-bolt flange; the drawing prints the mounting standard R. 17 – 102 3 bolts, Ø 11, equally spaced
Mounting torque 159 Nm 159 Nm
Suction port, 1.1/2 in 1/2 in – 13 UNC × 22.4, 4 holes; M12 × 22.4 in the metric version Same
Pressure port, 1 in 3/8 in – 16 UNC × 19, 4 holes; M10 × 19 in the metric version; thread system follows position 8 Same, with the port form fixed by the model
Moment of inertia 9.1 × 10⁻⁴ kgm² 8.6 × 10⁻⁴ kgm²

The mounting standard printed on the T6GC and T67GB drawings, R. 17 – 102, is printed without a legend in this catalogue; quote it to the supplier for confirmation rather than deriving the bolt pattern from it.

One model number, decoded

Here are the eight strings we currently hold, read against the positions above.

String Cartridge Shaft Rotation Design and seal Port form
T6GC B05 6R00 A100 B05, 25.8 l/min 6, DIN 5462 R, clockwise A, Buna-N 00, BSPP
T6GC B05 6R00 A1M0 B05, 25.8 l/min 6, DIN 5462 R, clockwise A, Buna-N M0, BSPP metric
T6GC B06 6L00 A101 B06, 31.9 l/min 6, DIN 5462 L, counter-clockwise A, Buna-N 01, SAE UNC
T6GC B06 6L00 A1M0 B06, 31.9 l/min 6, DIN 5462 L, counter-clockwise A, Buna-N M0, BSPP metric
T6GC B08 6L00 A1M0 B08, 39.6 l/min 6, DIN 5462 L, counter-clockwise A, Buna-N M0, BSPP metric
T6GC B10 6L00 A1M0 B10, 51.1 l/min 6, DIN 5462 L, counter-clockwise A, Buna-N M0, BSPP metric
T6ZC B05 6R00 A100 B05, 25.8 l/min 6, DIN 5463 R, clockwise A, Buna-N 00, BSPP
T6ZC B10 6R00 A100 B10, 51.1 l/min 6, DIN 5463 R, clockwise A, Buna-N 00, BSPP

The first two rows differ only in position 8: same pump, same cartridge, same rotation, with one thread form and one thread system apart. T6GC B05 6R00 A100 is a 25.8 l/min clockwise C-cartridge pump with BSPP ports, and T6GC B05 6R00 A1M0 is the same pump with metric BSPP ports.

The two counter-clockwise examples differ in the same position: T6GC B06 6L00 A101 uses the SAE thread code, while T6GC B06 6L00 A1M0 is the metric BSPP version of the same displacement. On the T6ZC side, T6ZC B05 6R00 A100 and T6ZC B10 6R00 A100 differ only in the cartridge; they correspond to the 3-bolt flange and the DIN 5463 spline.

T6ZC and T6GC are not interchangeable

Item T6GC T6ZC
Mounting flange 4 bolts 3 bolts
Shaft spline DIN 5462 B8-32-36 DIN 5463 B6-21-25
Seal class 5, Viton Not available Available
Weight 18.0 kg 14.1 kg

All four differences are fixed at assembly and cannot be changed on site; the two models are not interchangeable.

What to confirm before ordering

  • Rotation. Read it from the PTO, not from the old pump.
  • Spline. DIN 5462 or DIN 5463 — measure if the old pump is worn or unmarked.
  • Port form. BSPP or SAE, inch or metric, and check the fittings you already own.
  • Seal class. Buna-N for mineral oil, Viton where the fluid demands it — and Viton only exists on the T6ZC.
  • Positions 6 and 9. Neither has a printed value table. Read them off the old nameplate.
  • The drain. Leave the hole between the shaft seals open or piped to a return, never plugged.
  • The flange that is not bolted. If your machine needs the 4-bolt pattern, the T6ZC is the wrong pump even if the cartridge matches.

Ordering

If you are replacing a PTO pump, send us the full string from the nameplate — all nine positions, including the two that are usually left out. If the nameplate is worn, a photograph of the flange and the shaft spline is usually enough for us to tell a T6GC from a T6ZC before anything is shipped.

Start from the single pump range, or read the T-series overview if you also need cartridges and seal kits. Any question about a specific string can go through the contact page.
