T6 Mobile Single Vane Pumps: M and P, One Shaft Seal Apart

Six models, one eight-position code

The T6 mobile single pump is a fixed-displacement vane pump built from one cartridge, and it is sold in six models: T6CM, T6CP, T6DM, T6DP, T6EM and T6EP. They run from 10.8 to 227.1 cm³/r and are written in eight positions.

Two letters separate the six. M is the mobile version with one shaft seal, and P is the mobile version with two shaft seals. The letter also decides which frame the pump is built on: the C, D and E frames each exist in both versions, and the displacement range each one covers follows the frame.

The mobile versions run down to 400 r/min, and the shaft list includes a splined option for direct drive. Through-drive mobile pumps, with a shaft end that can carry a second pump, are written in eleven positions and are a separate group.

The eight positions at a glance

# What it sets Values
1 Model: frame and shaft seal count T6CM · T6CP · T6DM · T6DP · T6EM · T6EP
2 Displacement (cam ring), written as delivered flow B03–B31 on the C frame · B14–B50 on the D frame · 042–072 on the E frame
3 Shaft 1 · 2 · 3 · 4, plus T on the one-seal D and E frames
4 Rotation R clockwise · L counter-clockwise, seen from the shaft end
5 Porting combination 00 standard · 01 · 02 · 03
6 Design letter C on T6CM and the D frame · A on T6CP · B on the E frame
7 Seal class 1 mineral oil · 4 fire-resistant fluids · 5 both
8 Modification A position of its own; the ordering examples leave it open

Positions 2 and 3 are the two that decide whether a pump will do the job and fit the machine. Position 2 sets how much oil the pump delivers; position 3 sets the shaft end and, with it, a torque limit.

Position 1: the model, and the M or P behind it

The first position names the model. On this range it settles three things at once: the frame, the number of shaft seals and which shaft ends are available.

Model Frame Shaft seals Cam rings Shaft codes Weight
T6CM C 1 13 1 · 2 · 3 · 4 15.7 kg
T6CP C 2 7 2 · 3 18.0 kg
T6DM D 1 11 1 · 2 · 3 · 4 · T 24.0 kg
T6DP D 2 11 3 24.0 kg
T6EM E 1 7 1 · 2 · 3 · 4 · T 43.3 kg
T6EP E 2 7 3 43.3 kg

So M and P are not two names for the same pump. The two-seal version is longer at the shaft end and carries a drain between the two seals, which the C frame drawing shows as a tapped drain hole; on the C frame it is also 2.3 kg heavier.

The shaft column is the part that catches people out: the two-seal C frame is listed with two shaft codes, and the two-seal D and E frames with one. A machine built around a keyed shaft therefore needs the one-seal version, and a two-seal pump has to be ordered as a splined one.

Position 2: the displacement code

The cam ring decides the displacement. On this range the code is written as the flow the ring delivers at 0 bar and 1500 r/min, so the numbers in the lists below are litres per minute.

Code (C frame) Delivery (l/min) On T6CP Code (C frame) Delivery (l/min) On T6CP
B03 16.2 — B14 69.0 yes
B05 25.8 — B17 87.4 yes
B06 31.9 — B20 95.7 yes
B08 39.6 — B22 105.4 yes
B10 51.1 — B25 118.9 yes
B12 55.6 — B28 133.2 yes
B31 150.0 yes

The C frame covers 10.8 to 100.0 cm³/r over thirteen rings, and the two-seal version is listed with the seven largest of them, from B14 upwards. That is the difference between 13 and 7 in the model table above.

Code (D frame) Delivery (l/min) Code (D frame) Delivery (l/min)
B14 71.4 B35 166.5
B17 87.3 B38 180.4
B20 99.0 B42 204.0
B24 119.3 B45 218.5
B28 134.5 B50 237.0
B31 147.4
Code (E frame) Delivery (l/min) Code (E frame) Delivery (l/min)
042 198.5 062 295.0
045 213.6 066 319.9
050 237.7 072 340.6
052 247.2

The D frame covers 47.6 to 158.0 cm³/r and the E frame 132.3 to 227.1 cm³/r. One code appears on more than one frame with a different delivery: B14 is 69.0 l/min on the C frame and 71.4 l/min on the D frame, so the code is read together with the model.

Position 3: the shaft

The shaft code is read across the frame, not on its own: the same digit is a different shaft on each frame, and the two-seal versions have a much shorter list.

Code T6CM T6CP T6DM / T6EM T6DP / T6EP
1 Keyed, SAE B — Keyed, SAE C or SAE CC —
2 Keyed, non-SAE Keyed, non-SAE Keyed, non-SAE —
3 Splined, SAE B Splined, SAE C Splined, SAE C Splined
4 Splined, SAE BB — Splined, SAE CC —
T — — Splined, SAE J718c, for direct drive —

The T shaft is the one that makes these pumps mobile in the literal sense: it takes a direct drive at 540 or 1000 r/min instead of a belt or a gearbox.

Each shaft carries a torque limit, printed as a product of displacement and pressure:

Code C frame (Vi × p) D frame (Vi × p) E frame (Vi × p)
1 16500 43240 54500
2 14300 34590 34590
3 20600 61200 61200
4 21800 61200 61200

Read the limit against the shaft code: on the C frame the keyed non-SAE shaft 2 is the lowest of the four at 14300, while the splined shafts 3 and 4 are the strongest. These limits are printed on the one-seal pages; the two-seal pages list their shaft codes without a separate limit.

Position 4: rotation, seen from the shaft end

R is clockwise and L counter-clockwise, both judged from the shaft end — the same viewpoint the porting diagrams use. Rotation is one of the positions where two pumps otherwise alike will not fit each other’s place, so it is worth taking from the nameplate rather than from the machine.

Position 5: the four porting combinations

The outlet stays on the upper side of the housing and the inlet moves around it in 90° steps, giving four combinations:

Code Outlet and inlet
00 Outlet on the upper side, inlet on the lower side, opposite each other — the standard combination
01 Outlet and inlet both on the upper side, one behind the other along the axis
02 Outlet on the upper side, inlet on the far side, 90° apart
03 Outlet on the upper side, inlet on the near side, 90° apart

All four are read from the shaft end, and all four are the same four the other single pumps in the range use.

Positions 6 and 7: design letter and seal class

The design letter stands at position 6 and differs by frame: C on the C one-seal frame and on the D frame, A on the C two-seal frame, and B on the E frame. Position 7 is the seal class:

Code Class Fluid Shaft seal limit
1 S1 Mineral oil NBR, 0.7 bar maximum
4 S4 Fire-resistant fluids EPDM, 7 bar maximum
5 S5 Mineral oil and fire-resistant fluids FKM, 7 bar maximum

The class decides which fluids the pump may run on, so it is settled together with the fluid rather than after it. It matters more on a mobile pump than on a fixed installation, because the fluid is often specified by the machine builder.

Position 8: the modification slot

The last position is a modification slot. The ordering examples for all six models leave it open. When a nameplate does carry a value there, that value belongs to that build and is carried over as written.

Speed, pressure and axial load

The mobile versions are rated for a lower minimum speed than the fixed industrial pumps — 400 r/min — and the top speed falls as the rings get larger:

Frame Displacement Speed Pressure, intermittent / continuous Axial load
C 10.8–100.0 cm³/r 400–2800 r/min, 2500 r/min on B25 to B31, 1800 r/min with HF-3, HF-4 and HF-5 fluids 275 / 240 bar with HF-0 and HF-2 · 210 / 175 bar with HF-1, HF-4 and HF-5 · 175 / 140 bar with HF-3 · 210 / 160 bar on B28 to B31 800 N
D 47.6–158.0 cm³/r 400–2500 r/min, 2200 r/min on B42 to B50, 1800 r/min with HF-3, HF-4 and HF-5 fluids 240 / 210 bar with HF-0 and HF-2 · 210 / 175 bar with HF-1, HF-4 and HF-5 · 175 / 140 bar with HF-3 · 210 / 160 bar on B45 and B50 1200 N
E 132.3–227.1 cm³/r 400–2200 r/min, 1800 r/min with HF-3, HF-4 and HF-5 fluids 240 / 210 bar with HF-0 and HF-2 · 210 / 175 bar with HF-1, HF-4 and HF-5 · 175 / 140 bar with HF-3 2000 N

Two rules come with the pressure column. The intermittent figure is a time-weighted average that may not exceed the continuous rating, and a total cycle longer than fifteen minutes is rated separately. The axial load figure is the load the shaft will take from the drive, and it grows with the frame: 800 N on the C frame, 1200 N on the D frame and 2000 N on the E frame.

Mounting flange and ports

The mounting face and the port sizes follow the frame, and the two-seal C frame takes the larger of the two port sets:

Model Mounting flange Mounting torque Suction port Pressure port
T6CM SAE B two-bolt J744, ISO 3019/1 159 N·m 1.1/2 in, Ø 38.1 mm 1 in, Ø 25.4 mm
T6CP SAE B two-bolt J744, ISO 3019/1 159 N·m 2 in, Ø 50.8 mm 1.1/4 in, Ø 31.7 mm
T6DM / T6DP SAE C two-bolt J744, ISO 3019/1 187 N·m 2 in, Ø 50.8 mm 1.1/4 in, Ø 31.8 mm
T6EM / T6EP SAE C two-bolt J744, ISO 3019/1 — 3 in, Ø 75 mm 1.1/2 in, Ø 37.1 mm

Two installation values are worth carrying into the workshop. The inlet is rated at a flow velocity below 1.9 m/s, and the difference between the pressure at the inlet flange and atmospheric pressure must stay within 0.2 bar to keep air out of the oil. For HF-3 and HF-4 fluids the absolute inlet pressure figure is multiplied by 1.25, for HF-5 by 1.35, and for ester or rapeseed base fluids by 1.10. The range itself works with viscosities from 10 to 2000 cSt.

One model number, decoded

Six strings from the shelf, read position by position:

Model code Reading
T6CM B03 1R00 C1 Model T6CM, one shaft seal on the C frame; cam ring B03 = 16.2 l/min at 0 bar and 1500 r/min, the smallest ring; shaft 1, keyed SAE B; rotation R; porting 00; design C; seal 1, NBR
T6CM B06 1R00 C4 The same model and shaft with cam ring B06 = 31.9 l/min and seal class 4, the EPDM class for fire-resistant fluids and a 7 bar shaft seal limit
T6DM B31 1L00 C5 Model T6DM, one shaft seal on the D frame; cam ring B31 = 147.4 l/min; shaft 1, keyed; rotation L; seal class 5, for mineral oil and fire-resistant fluids
T6DP B45 3R00 C1 Model T6DP, two shaft seals on the D frame; cam ring B45 = 218.5 l/min; shaft 3, splined, the only shaft code the two-seal D frame is listed with; rotation R; seal class 1
T6EM 042 1L00 B5 Model T6EM, one shaft seal on the E frame; cam ring 042 = 198.5 l/min, the smallest E ring; shaft 1, keyed SAE CC; rotation L; design B; seal class 5
T6EP 072 3L00 B1 Model T6EP, two shaft seals on the E frame; cam ring 072 = 340.6 l/min, the largest ring in the range; shaft 3, splined; rotation L; seal class 1

Read together, the strings show the three positions that decide a mobile replacement: the model letter for the shaft seal count, the cam ring for the flow, and the shaft code for the drive.

T6 mobile: what to confirm before ordering

  • Settle M or P first. The two-seal versions are listed with fewer shaft codes, so the drive end is decided by this letter.
  • Read the displacement code with the model. B14 is 69.0 l/min on the C frame and 71.4 l/min on the D frame.
  • Check the ring against the model list. The two-seal C frame is listed from B14 upwards.
  • Take the shaft code, then its Vi × p limit. Shaft 2 is the lowest of the four on every frame.
  • Confirm rotation and porting together, both read from the shaft end.
  • Match the seal class to the fluid: class 4 for fire-resistant fluids, class 5 for both.
  • Check the speed and pressure against the ring, and the axial load against the drive.
  • State the modification position if the nameplate carries one.

Ordering

Send the complete code from the nameplate, or the combination you need: model, cam ring, shaft, rotation, porting, seal class and modification. Where a cartridge kit is wanted instead of a complete pump, say so as well and we will confirm the cartridge against the code before the order is placed.

All pumps are supplied as new replacement units, inspected individually before dispatch.
