T7 Single Vane Pumps: T7AS to T7ES, and What the S Decides

Eight models, one code built on nine positions

The T7 single pump is a fixed-displacement vane pump built from one cartridge, and it is sold in eight models: T7AS, T7ASW, T7B, T7BS, T7D, T7DS, T7E and T7ES. They span 5.8 to 268.7 cm³/r.

Two things separate the eight. The first is the frame: T7AS and T7ASW mount on the small SAE A two-bolt flange, while T7B, T7D and T7E mount on ISO flanges and their S versions — T7BS, T7DS, T7ES — on the SAE two-bolt flange of the same size. The second is the displacement range each frame covers.

Everything else follows the same nine positions, one more than the T6 single pump: on T7 the port connection — the type of thread or flange on the ports — has a position of its own.

The nine positions at a glance

# What it sets Values
1 Model, and with it the mounting flange T7AS · T7ASW · T7B · T7BS · T7D · T7DS · T7E · T7ES
2 Displacement (cam ring) B02–B50 on the B, D and E frames · 042–085 on the E frame
3 Shaft 1 to 5, by model
4 Rotation R clockwise · L counter-clockwise, seen from the shaft end
5 Porting combination 00 standard · 01 · 02 · 03
6 Design letter A in one catalogue generation, C in the later one
7 Seal class 1 mineral oil · 4 fire-resistant fluids · 5 both
8 Connection: port type and size 00/01/02/03/04 or M0/M1/Y0, by model
9 Modification A position of its own; the ordering examples leave it open

Positions 2 and 8 are the two that get mixed up. Position 2 sets how much the pump moves per revolution; position 8 sets how the ports are cut. They are read in different places in the string and never carry the same kind of value.

Position 1: the model, and the flange behind it

Model Mounting flange Displacement range Weight Flange bolts
T7AS SAE A two-bolt J744, spigot Ø82.55 mm 5.8–24.9 cm³/r 9.5 kg 110 N·m
T7ASW SAE A two-bolt J744 26.0–40.0 cm³/r 11.3 kg 110 N·m
T7B ISO 3019/2 100A2HW, spigot Ø99.967 mm 5.8–50.0 cm³/r 23.0 kg 187 N·m
T7BS SAE B two-bolt J744 5.8–50.0 cm³/r 23.0 kg 187 N·m
T7D ISO 125A2HW 44.0–158.0 cm³/r 26.0 kg 187 N·m
T7DS SAE C two-bolt J744 44.0–158.0 cm³/r 26.0 kg 187 N·m
T7E ISO 125A2HW 132.3–268.7 cm³/r 43.3 kg 187 N·m
T7ES SAE C two-bolt J744 132.3–268.7 cm³/r 43.3 kg 187 N·m

So the S is not a revision and not a flow class: it is the flange standard. A T7B and a T7BS move the same amount of oil and weigh the same; one bolts to an ISO face and the other to a SAE face. Ordering one for the other is the most expensive single mistake in this family.

Position 2: the displacement code

The cam ring decides the displacement, and each frame has its own list of rings. The same code appears in more than one list with different values — B10 is 9.8 cm³/r on T7AS and 31.8 cm³/r on T7B — so the code is read together with the model, never on its own.

Model Code Displacement
T7AS B06 5.8 cm³/r
T7AS B10 9.8 cm³/r
T7AS B11 11.0 cm³/r
T7AS B13 12.8 cm³/r

T7D / T7DS B35 113.4 cm³/r
T7D / T7DS B38 120.6 cm³/r
T7D / T7DS B42 137.5 cm³/r
T7D / T7DS B45 145.7 cm³/r
T7D / T7DS B50 158.0 cm³/r
T7E / T7ES 042 132.3 cm³/r
T7E / T7ES 045 142.4 cm³/r
T7E / T7ES 050 158.5 cm³/r
T7E / T7ES 052 164.8 cm³/r

T7E / T7ES 072 227.1 cm³/r
T7E / T7ES 085 268.7 cm³/r

Two patterns in that table are worth remembering. B10 is 9.8 cm³/r on T7AS but 31.8 cm³/r on T7B, and the E frame is written in three digits throughout. The E frame also steps up to a ten-vane rotor at B45 and B50 on the D frame — the largest rings in each frame are built differently from the small ones.

Position 3: the shaft

The shaft code is read across a row, not down a column: the same digit means a different shaft on each model.

Code T7AS T7ASW T7B / T7BS T7D / T7DS T7E / T7ES
1 Keyed, non-SAE, Ø19.05 mm Keyed, non-SAE Keyed, SAE B, Ø22.2 mm Keyed, SAE C, Ø31.7 mm Keyed, SAE CC
2 — — Keyed, ISO R775 Keyed, non-SAE Keyed, non-SAE
3 Splined, SAE B, 13 teeth Splined, SAE B, 13 teeth Splined, SAE B, 13 teeth Splined, SAE C, 14 teeth Splined, SAE C, 14 teeth
4 Splined, SAE A, 9 teeth Splined, 11 teeth Splined, SAE BB, 15 teeth Splined, non-SAE Splined, SAE CC, 17 teeth
5 — — — Keyed, ISO 3019-2 G32M Keyed, ISO R775 G38M

Shaft torque is limited, and the catalogue prints the limit as a product: Vi × p, in cm³/r × bar.

Model Shaft 1 Shaft 2 Shaft 3 Shaft 4 Shaft 5
T7AS 8720 — 8720 6550 —
T7ASW 18530 — 18530 12660 —
T7B / T7BS 16500 20600 20600 20600 —
T7D / T7DS 43240 34590 61200 61200 44300
T7E / T7ES 54500 34590 61200 61200 54500

Read the limit against the shaft code, not against the displacement: on the small T7AS the splined shaft 4 is the weakest of the four at 6550, while the splined shaft 3 carries exactly as much as the keyed shaft 1.

Position 4: rotation, seen from the shaft end

R is clockwise and L counter-clockwise, both judged from the shaft end, which is also the view the porting diagrams use. Rotation and porting are best settled together against the machine drawing.

Position 5: the four porting combinations

Code Outlet Inlet
00 Upper side Lower side, 180° opposite — the standard arrangement
01 Upper side Upper side as well, one behind the other along the shaft
02 Upper side 90° away, on the side facing away from the viewer
03 Upper side 90° away, on the side facing the viewer

The four options are the same four the T6 single pump has: the outlet stays on the upper side and the inlet moves around the housing in 90° steps.

Positions 6 and 7: design letter and seal class

The design letter is A in the earlier catalogue generation and C on the T7AS pages of the later one, where the displacement list also extends to B40. It belongs to the string it came from.

The seal class decides which fluid the pump may run on and how much pressure the shaft seal takes:

Code Class Fluid Shaft seal
1 S1 Mineral oil NBR, up to 0.7 bar
4 S4 Fire-resistant fluids: water-glycol, water-in-oil emulsion, phosphate ester, chlorinated hydrocarbon EPDM, up to 7 bar
5 S5 Mineral oil and fire-resistant fluids both FKM, up to 7 bar

Position 8: the connection code

This is the position the T6 single pump does not have. It sets how the ports are finished — four-bolt SAE flanges, SAE straight threads, NPTF or BSP — and it is written differently on each frame:

Model Codes Meaning
T7AS / T7ASW 00 Four-bolt SAE J518 flange, UNC threads: suction 1″ or 1.1/4″, pressure 3/4″
T7AS / T7ASW 02 SAE straight threads: suction 1.5/16″, pressure 1.1/16″
T7AS / T7ASW 03 NPTF threads: suction 1.1/4″, pressure 3/4″
T7AS / T7ASW 04 BSP threads: suction 1″ or 1.1/4″, pressure 3/4″
T7B M0 / M1 Four-bolt SAE J518 flange, metric threads: pressure 1″ / 3/4″
T7BS M0 / M1 As T7B, metric threads
T7BS 00 / 01 Same flanges, UNC threads: pressure 1″ / 3/4″
T7D M0 Four-bolt flange, metric threads: suction 2″, pressure 1.1/4″
T7DS M0 / Y0 / 00 As T7D, plus Y0 (limited to 250 bar intermittent) and UNC 00
T7E / T7ES M0 / 00 Four-bolt flange: suction 3″, pressure 1.1/2″, metric or UNC threads

Two consequences follow. On T7B only the metric codes are listed, while the UNC codes belong to T7BS; and a metric connection is written M0, not 00, so the two are not interchangeable.

Model Suction port Pressure port Flange bolts, 4 holes each
T7AS 1″ (SAE 20/16) 3/4″ (SAE 12) 3/8″–16 UNC × 19 · 3/8″–16 UNC × 17
T7ASW 1″ (SAE 20/16) 3/4″ (SAE 12) 7/16″–14 UNC × 22 · 3/8″–16 UNC × 17
T7B / T7BS 1.1/2″ 1″ or 3/4″ 3/8″–16 UNC × 19 · 1/2″–13 UNC × 22.4
T7D / T7DS 2″, Ø50.8 mm (2.1/2″ Ø63.5 mm on request) 1.1/4″, Ø31.8 mm 1/2″–13 UNC · 7/16″–14 UNC
T7E / T7ES 3″, Ø75 mm (3.1/2″ Ø88.9 mm on request) 1.1/2″, Ø38.1 mm 5/8″–11 UNC × 24 · 1/2″–13 UNC × 23.4

Position 9: the modification slot

In the ordering examples of every model this position is left open. When a string does carry a value there, that value belongs to that build and is carried over unchanged.

Speed, pressure and weight by model

Model Displacement Speed Pressure, intermittent / continuous Weight
T7AS 5.8–24.9 cm³/r, 8 rings 600–3600 r/min, 3000 on B25 300 / 275 bar on anti-wear mineral oil; B25 275 / 240 9.5 kg
T7ASW 26.0–40.0 cm³/r, 7 rings 3600 r/min to B32, 3000 above 300 / 275 bar; B34–B40 280 / 240 11.3 kg
T7B / T7BS 5.8–50.0 cm³/r, 13 rings 3600 r/min to B10, 3000 above 320 / 290 bar; above 300 bar the rating is taken ring by ring 23.0 kg
T7D / T7DS 44.0–158.0 cm³/r, 12 rings 3000 r/min to B35, then 2800, 2500 and 2200 300 / 250 bar on anti-wear oil; the larger rings step down to 210 / 160 26.0 kg
T7E / T7ES 132.3–268.7 cm³/r, 10 rings 2200 r/min to 072, 2000 on 085 240 / 210 bar on anti-wear oil; 085 90 / 75 43.3 kg

The pattern is the same on every frame: the largest rings run slower and are rated lower, because the same housing and shaft have to carry more oil per revolution.

Two catalogue generations, two connection sets

The T7AS pages exist in two generations. In the earlier one the displacement list ends at B25 and the connection codes are 00, 02, 03 and 04. In the later one the list extends to B40, the design letter is C, and the connection codes are renumbered — a four-bolt SAE flange with metric threads becomes M6 rather than M0.

Both generations are in circulation, so a connection code is only meaningful together with the catalogue it came from. When a nameplate carries a code that does not appear in the list you are reading, the answer is to match the generation rather than to convert the code.

One model number, decoded

Six strings that are on the shelf, read position by position:

Model code Reading
T7AS B17 1L00 A100 Model T7AS, SAE A flange; displacement B17 = 17.2 cm³/r; shaft 1, keyed non-SAE; rotation L; porting 00; design A; seal 1; connection 00, four-bolt SAE flange with UNC threads
T7ASW B28 1R00 A100 Model T7ASW, the wider SAE A frame; displacement B28 = 28.0 cm³/r; shaft 1; rotation R; porting 00; design A; seal 1; connection 00
T7B B10 2L00 A1M0 Model T7B, ISO flange; displacement B10 = 31.8 cm³/r; shaft 2, keyed ISO R775; rotation L; porting 00; design A; seal 1; connection M0, four-bolt flange with metric threads
T7BS B14 1L00 A100 Model T7BS, the SAE B frame of the same size; displacement B14 = 45.0 cm³/r; shaft 1, keyed SAE B; rotation L; porting 00; design A; seal 1; connection 00, UNC threads
T7DS B22 1R00 A100 Model T7DS, SAE C flange; displacement B22 = 70.3 cm³/r; shaft 1, keyed SAE C; rotation R; porting 00; design A; seal 1; connection 00
T7ES 050 1L00 A100 Model T7ES, SAE C flange on the E frame; displacement 050 = 158.5 cm³/r; shaft 1, keyed SAE CC; rotation L; porting 00; design A; seal 1; connection 00

The third and fourth strings make the point of this family on their own: one letter apart, the same displacement list, and a different mounting flange and connection code.

T7: what to confirm before ordering

  • Settle the model, not just the size. T7B and T7BS are the same pump on an ISO or a SAE face.
  • Read the displacement code with the model. B10 is 9.8 cm³/r on T7AS and 31.8 cm³/r on T7B.
  • Check which connection code set your catalogue uses. M0 and M6 are the same idea from two generations, and 00 means UNC threads, not metric.
  • Read the shaft code across the row, then check the Vi × p limit for that code.
  • Match the seal class to the fluid, including the fire-resistant cases, which need class 4 or 5.
  • Take the speed and pressure from the ring, not the frame: the biggest rings on each frame run slower and are rated lower.
  • Confirm rotation and porting together against the machine drawing, both read from the shaft end.
  • State the modification position if the nameplate carries one.

Ordering

Send the complete code from the nameplate, or the combination you need: model, displacement code, shaft, rotation, porting, seal class and connection code. Where a cartridge kit is wanted instead of a complete pump, say so as well and we will confirm the cartridge against the code before the order is placed.

All pumps are supplied as new replacement units, inspected individually before dispatch.
