A10VSO Control Types Explained: DR, DFR, DFR1 and More

Choosing the right control type is one of the most important decisions when selecting or replacing an axial piston pump.

Control Types at a Glance

  • DR (Constant Pressure Control) — Maintains constant pressure. Ideal for variable flow demand.
  • DRG (Remotely Controlled) — Pressure adjustable remotely via pilot port.
  • DFR / DFR1 (Pressure and Flow Control) — Pressure limitation + load-sensing flow control.
  • FE / FED (Electric Proportional Flow) — Flow set by electrical signal.
  • DFE1 (P/Q Control) — Pressure and flow set electronically.

Selecting the Right Control

  • Constant pressure → DR or DRG
  • Load-sensing to save energy → DFR / DFR1
  • Electronic flow control → FE / FED
  • Full electronic P/Q → DFE1
